In Piedmontese dialect, L'Autin means a small plot of land planted with vines. Already from its name, therefore, the Cantina is committed to narrating an indissoluble bond with the territory.
Speaking of territory, our day with Mauro and Stefano begins on a steep vineyard in the Germanasca Valley, more precisely in Pomaretto, under the watchful eye of Monviso. Here, the dry-stone walls and old vines kissed by the warm late-autumn light bear witness to a memory that L'Autin wants to preserve.
Betting on an impervious territory is always a great challenge, but Stefano emphasises the importance of recovering the work of small and large winegrowers who, with hard work and dedication, have forged extraordinary wines over the years.
The day continues with an evocative visit to the Talc Galleries, in operation until nearby 1995. To further consolidate the link with the territory, L'Autin entrusts bottles of Metodo Classico sparkling wine to the man-made galleries.
Here the bottles, carried by hand, two by two, rest for at least 40 months in an ideal environment: a constant temperature of 10°C, no light or noise, and constant humidity of 90% all year round.
Andrea, an expert and passionate guide, takes us on a fascinating journey to discover the so-called ‘White of the Alps’ and the recent labours of man dedicated, in a not too distant past, to its extraction.
The experience was crowned by anelegant dinner in an exceptional location. And if the leitmotif of the day is the link with the territory, the evening too tells of tradition and ties.
In fact, we welcomed two new Autin products: the Montanera and Ramie. With these two new entries, Mauro, his daughter Elisa and their team continue to invest in the territory, focusing on an indigenous grape variety. With every sip we savour tradition, the land, elegance and the taste of new perspectives.
